If you booked a non-refundable rate, a cash refund is not available, but you may still be able to change the date or vehicle — check your booking confirmation for details. Always cancel through CarRentalChoice, not directly with the car rental company. If you cancel only with the supplier, we cannot process a refund.

Cross-border travel must always be approved by the supplier in advance — never assume it is permitted, as crossing without approval can void your insurance. Within the EU and Schengen Area it is generally permitted with most major suppliers. Travel from the US to Canada is usually allowed with advance notice. The US to Mexico requires specific supplier permission and additional insurance. Travel from South Africa to neighbouring countries is often permitted with prior approval. Always declare intended cross-border travel at the time of booking.

It is also recommended in Italy, Greece, Spain, and parts of Eastern Europe, as some local authorities and suppliers may request one even where it is not strictly required by law. A third option is full-to-full prepaid, where you pay for fuel in advance and return the car full.
